See you next week!
General announcements – both studios
If you haven’t done so yet, please give Marie (for Marc’s group) or Mallory (for Kristen’s group) $3 for the Walker tour admission.
Also, I will be in studio this MONDAY, 1 – 3 pm, for questions/quick desk crits. This is optional, of course, but if you need a little feedback I’d be happy to talk to anyone in either studio.
best, Kristen
All-studio review of material studies
Hi everyone.
I enjoyed touring the Walker and Guthrie with you on Friday, and look forward to seeing your photo/diagram studies tomorrow. We will meet in our beloved Y basement and get started promptly at 1pm. We will spend approximately 2 hours on this review. Afterwards, we will break into our individual studios. Marc’s section — you will have time in studio to work on your wall section/material studies, and I will be available for questions. My group, we will meet in small groups to review your latest drawings and models.
See you tomorrow!

All-studio architecture tour this Friday, April 11
For Marc’s and Kristen’s studios:
We will meet at in the Walker’s Hennepin Ave. lobby (next to the gift shop) promptly at 1:15 pm on Friday. Bring cameras, pencils (no pens — Walker rule) and paper for sketching, and $3 for admission. We will stay at the Walker until about 2:45 pm, then meet at the Guthrie at 3:15. We are lucky to have Leslie Van Duzer as our Guthrie tour guide, and a staff person named Louise will let us into one of the theaters. You will be able to roam around the public areas of the building after the tour to complete your sketches and photography. This tour typically costs $30 per person, so we should feel lucky and appreciative to those who made this possible (namely, Leslie and Louise).
I’m looking forward to getting out of the Y basement! See you on Friday.

New diagrams uploaded (Marc’s section)
Please look over to the right under “Marc’s section” to find some new scenario diagram examples I just uploaded. These are both useful as scenario diagrams and as good examples of perspectives.
Another Link
I’ve added another link off to the right. This one has a series of drawings that are entries into a design competition. The competition is for a park design, so the drawings all have a kind of planning scale that is commensurate with the kinds of drawings we’re producing in my section. So…my section, please check these out.
New Link
Over to the right, check out the links section of the blog. I just added a new link in which, I think, both sections will be interested. It is an architectural graphic short story…like a comic strip. It is a good example of telling a story (to inform program) through a visual, diagrammatic medium.
Marc’s studio 03.07
Please e-mail a .jpg file of your scenario diagram, wherever it currently stands, for posting on the website. The specs are as follows: 4.5 inches high, at 150 dpi. You can export your illustrator file directly as a jpeg at a fairly high resolution and then make the appropriate size adjustments in Photoshop. Also, please check to make sure that your jpeg is in RGB mode, not CMYK. Name the file “lastname_firstname_exercise_3.jpg”. Then, I will post some of the exceptional examples here on the blog. Thanks!
Kristen’s studio for 02.20
Please meet at 1 pm in the Rapson courtyard. I will let you know where to pin up your narrative mappings for review.
I look forward to seeing your work.
